v3.2.7: Side D progress update
Greetings surveyors!
As I work on the first free content expansion, I’m continuing to make improvements to the core experience based on your feedback. I’m excited to share a vertical slice of those with you today, including: a new dark mode interface, a toggle for stereo or mono audio, and many improvements to the How to Play screen. Continue reading for the patch notes and an important update on the Side D release.
Side D progress update
Beware! The price of Periphery Synthetic will increase to $5 USD when Side D is released. This is to reflect the new content and enhancements since the initial release. Thanks for understanding!
For the past several months, my focus on Periphery Synthetic has shifted almost exclusively toward the development of its expansions. These free content expansions significantly expand the EP with new worlds to explore and abilities to unlock. The upcoming Side D release is the first of these upcoming expansions.
Its features include an enhanced flight system, a new gliding ability, and a new currency which allows materials to be transmuted from one to another. The new world, Alpha Periphery D2, is an ever-changing moss world which complements these changes. The expansion also refreshes the materials needed for each existing upgrade to synergize with them too.
For the most part, Side D is feature complete, but it is still many months away from release. For example, there is still some work needed on the terrain generation and structures to be explored. Similarly, I would describe the music and sound design as halfway there. And I haven’t even started with the new perceptions which dive more deeply into the lore.
Today I’d like to tease that it adds not just one world, but also a secret world that I haven’t yet revealed! Without spoiling too much, it’s a non-Euclidean space that holds a mirror to your journey. I’m looking forward to sharing the full reveal soon.
In the meantime, I’ll continue to incorporate your feedback into the public release branch when possible. Thanks for playing!
