Today I improved the game page and worked mostly on features hidden behind its spoiler tags, including:
- describing its world with additional flavor text
- improving ocean wave generation
- improving smack and splash sound cues
Spoiler Warning
- modeling the ocean floor as a union of 2D perlin fields for its general altitude and layers of hills and trenches
- implementing basic collision detection with the ocean floor
- reflecting momentum when colliding with solid surfaces
- reworking jumps with subtle air resistance instead of full deceleration
- giving players the ability to skip like a stone when surfacing with lateral velocities
- implementing basic underwater collision sounds
Tomorrow I plan to continue in this direction.
