Sneak peek at the Night update
Over the weekend I’ve made major progress on the upcoming S.E.A. release: the Night update!
Dynamic time of day
Did you know that the simulation was stuck at high noon? Enjoy evolving colors as the sun and moon rise and fall. For this update I wanted to make its world an ephemeral space you’d want to live in for a while.
Movement feel
Were you needing more control over your S.E.A.? Leverage new techniques to achieve bigger jumps, skips, and spins. For this update I wanted to improve the feel of the surface by making it more tactile and playful.
Coming soon
With the new time of day simulation there are a few extra opportunities to add delight in this release. One I’m actively considering is adding tides for more variance in the surface waves. Another is dynamic soundtrack elements like synths that track the sun and moon. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d enjoy in this update.
This update will not include the previously mentioned entity system. I’ve discovered that I need more time to get this right, so it will be a focus of the next minor release: the Life update.
I’m excited to share this with you soon!
